The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 本来打算拿它跨年的，结果看着看着睡着了……以及，2021年给我最大的感受是：当人类去反对某件事物时，大部分情况下并不是因为这件事物本身有什么不好的地方，而是因为它侵犯到了这群人的个人利益，或者说，他们以为它侵犯到了。当然，也可能有一部分人压根儿就不在乎被侵犯的利益是啥，只是因为大家都在反对于是就加入了进来，毕竟，一切群居的生物都是从众的。
是的，非常遗憾，2020（不是说电影），它那么烂，然而它还有续集！2021！烂得差不多，气笑了，外加somehow还有一种重复的喜感？片子把这种不可理喻还原出来了！尤其对于某国观众来说，还提供了全球视野。4星聊表支持，祝办成贵球春晚！越办越好！

黑暗系小言。男女主都很好看，男主也很感人，故事也挺曲折的。但是为什么男主一个农场主那么有钱，可以不停去光顾头牌，还能说赎身就赎身？

…害怕被欺骗，你杀死自己，不再信任任何人。习惯了像行尸走肉一样活着，以为麻木不仁才能让你坚不可摧。直到有一天，你突然发现自己的心脏竟然会跳，发现自己自以为坚不可摧的屏障会在一个人面前瞬间失效。想像活人一样去爱，却无法破除自己身上的诅咒；自杀了无数次，但是那颗心还是忍不住被牵动。一次次逃离却又下意识地找寻着。直到很久很久以后，你才意识到自己的自虐也真真切切伤害到了他，才发现 原来真的会有人 陪你受伤 替你挡伤 也不曾抛开你。所有的诅咒顷刻消散
说得好，2021 让2020显得只是个序曲。
这有点吹毛瑕疵了，爱情片男女主角经常都会出现完美人设，多金高富帅，霸道总裁等等，这点大可不必较真，要知道，大部分的爱情故事都是幻想出来的，不像战争片那样大多改编自真实故事。不孕的细节没有圆过场来，这个确实坑了点，这样的细节也是很多电影的通病，也许时间不够交待吧。总体瑕不掩瑜，在接受范围。
女主也太惨了吧 正如最后男主所说：正是苦难带我们来到此刻。景美，服装美，音乐也好听。还是很治愈的。

如果能够看懂这部电影隐藏的寓意真的是会被深深打动的片子，虽然大部分人因为看不懂而诟病，但我必须给这部电影打五星，想打六星，难道只有我真的看懂了吗？有点难过🫠哈哈哈
剧情真的不太好。现实生活没有这样的男生。！！！要是真的有那就快跑。
富有清教徒色彩的爱情电影，男主唯一的主动思想就是一见钟情，后续所有的事情都遵从他的“主”，主命令她救女孩就救，主告诉他女孩有自我意识就放跑。整部电影的节奏，剪辑，过度都略显生硬，劝妓从良的故事披上成长和蜕变的外衣，也是一个旧调重弹的老话题了，没拍出多少新意。加一星给女主颜值了
